FRAMEWORK FOR DIVISIONAL ALIGNMENT 2026-27
-
All divisions use 52/300 ball
-
Home run limits remain in effect (three OOP HRs, three OOP singles, outs thereafter for OOP balls hit)
-
Mask for 3B highly recommended for all levels. Mask use for any player similarly encouraged.
-
Maintain an Impact List. Keep up to date
-
Maintain a “Recently Released Impact” List. Keep up to date
-
All Managers to evaluate all their players based on a given matrix for Parity Committee review. Improperly rated players may be contested by divisional managers and/or Parity Committee.
-
With this in mind, the League will carefully consider the overall quality of teams along with that of individual players when deciding where a team is to be seeded.
-
Illegal / altered bats remain prohibited. Umpires MUST thoroughly examine all bats prior to game. Any bat not examined but used will be deemed illegal / altered and user will be subject to penalties prescribed in Operations / Organization Manual. No exceptions. No excuses.
-
The use of “sister communities” is encouraged and will qualify as a single community.
B Division
-
All players eligible for Division B
-
Impact Players and Recently Released Impacts are eligible ONLY for Division B play
-
Recently Released Impacts may become eligible to move down to Division C after a three year waiting period and with the approval of Parity Committee first, then managers.
-
A maximum of two lineup slots may be used by Impact Players.
C Division
-
C Division is primarily for mid-level players, but teams in this division will often include several lower-level or higher-level players (NOT to include impact players). We recognize that players prefer community-based teams.
-
The League may choose to implement a "split season schedule" in C Division based on early season records, and may move teams or individual players within the B, C and D Divisions to improve team parity and safety for the rest of the season.
D Division
-
D Division for older or less physically-adept players only. NO power hitters or extremely fast runners.
-
Players are assumed to have awareness and understanding of the game. While the intent is more social / less competitive play, the division is not to be construed as “family reunion softball”.
-
The impact of a team with players whose abilities do not align with the intent of this division will treated as described above in the C Division overview.
TEAM FORFEITURE OF GAMES
In order to maintain consistency in the league and ensure that teams play all of their scheduled games a forfeit rule in the league will be as follows for all divisions:
-
When a team fails to appear for a scheduled league game, does not have enough players, or refuses to play for any reason, the game will be considered a forfeit.
-
Once a team forfeits a game a $25.00 dollar fine will be automatically assessed against the forfeiting team with the money going to the league treasury.
-
If a team forfeits a second time in the same season, a $50.00 dollar fine will be assessed as described above.
-
If a team forfeits a third time in the same season, a $100.00 dollar fine will be assessed as described above.
-
Additionally, the Lakes League Executive Board will review the reasons for the forfeits and may suspend or expel the team from the league.
-
Unpaid fines may be cause for the Lakes League Executive Board levying additional penalties up to and including expulsion from the league.
-
The Lakes League Executive Board retains the right to refund the penalty should they feel just cause for the forfeiture exists.
